June 30th EDIT: I just mailed one of my commissions and found out that Priority Mail has been increased by 20 cents, so postage for prints and/or original drawings is $4.05. None of the prices have gone up, just keep in mind that the actual donated profit has decreased. For example: an $8.00 original drawing send to you through Priority Mail results in a $3.95 donated amount, versus a $4.15 donated amount when it used to cost $3.85 to ship.

Commissions for Hurricane Relief

I've decided to do commission work to help raise money for Hurricane relief (Katrina and Rita). I know I've been told that no one will buy my prints, but I figure it's worth giving a shot. Some people really like my work, and I'll never know if anyone would pay money for special requests if I don't try it out, first. Unfortunately, as you read in a previous journal, it's illegal to sell fanart (because I don't have permission from Disney to make money off their characters. Makes sense, eh?) so commissions will have to be something a little different than what I'm normally posting up on dA. Anyway, if you're interested, please read through the rest of this journal.

QUESTIONS:

Why am I doing this? Because it couldn't hurt to get some practice doing drawings that are outside my normal line of work (architectural graphics-- I've got enough of that, thank you), and also because I want people to help out with the Hurricane Relief effort in any way possible-- even if that means putting myself out there to raise the money to donate. I've already made my personal donation to the Hurricane relief effort, and hopefully my offers to do special requests will get people to donate what they can as well.

Why for so cheap? Because it doesn't cost ME anything to draw a stinkin' picture, and I don't pretend to think my work is worth $30-50. Besides, I don't get anything from this except drawing experience, because I'm donating all the money to charity. And a couple of bucks for donation is better than no bucks at all, right?

So anyway, ya. Read on if you're interested. If not interested, you have my permission to say "Pah! Whatever!" and go on to read the hordes of other journal entries lurking in your dA inbox.

PRICING - all prices are donations, and the following are the minimum donation amounts accepted. Feel free to donate more if you want. It's not for me-- it's to help the hurricane victims.

All prices are shown in U.S. dollars. If you are not in the U.S., you will be paying the equivalent of these prices in your own country's currency. I'm not exactly sure how that works, but just note me and we'll figure it out.



Digital Art (meaning digitally-colored. I don't draw anything on the computer. The idea kinda scares me)

I will combine all the donations received from my commissions and donate them in one (hopefully) large lump sum to American Red Cross at the end of each month. You really don't have any proof that I'll do it, but I'll promise on anything you give me that your money will get donated to a good cause. I'm pretty financially stable at the moment (which does not translate to "rich," folks. I'm just willing to admit that others need the money more than I do), so I have no need to lie and say I'm doing all of this for charity and then go and spend it on myself.



PAYMENTS

CONTENT
-Anything along the lines of cartoon-style or anime-style characters. I'm usually not an anime person, but I can try to tweak my style to fit whatever it is that you're requesting.
-NO FANART of copyrighted characters. Believe me, I really wish I could do fanart commissions but it's just illegal, that's all, and I'm too young to go to jail for doing drawings. (haha, imagine that. "What are you in for?" "... I sold a picture of Aladdin that I drew..."
-Fanart of your original character is okay. As long as you give me permission to do it (and then promise you won't sue me after I finish and claim that I stole your character. Yikes!)
-Illustrations for your original fiction story is okay. That might actually be really fun for me.
-No sexual content, please. PG-ratings are good, although I'll try a bloody battle scene if you give me the motivation.



Extra jibber jabber that I felt I needed to state:
-ONE request at a time, please.
-I reserve the right to refuse to draw what you request. For example, I'm studying to be an architect, and so if you ask me to do a worm's eye view two-point perspective drawing of some building for which conveniently you have the floorplan, section and elevations, I'd know how to do it but it's VERY likely that I'm gonna get suspicious and paranoid and probably deny your request. Sorry.
-I'll be posting all commissions into my deviantART gallery, unless specifically requested NOT to do so.
-Please note that I will be donating PROFITS. For example: That means that, although you donated $9 for a print of a digitally-colored request, only $4.15 will be donated because it will cost $3.85 for me to ship it to you and $1 to print it out nicely.
